One random evening we received an email from Rebecca telling us that two weeks from then she was going to propose to her girlfriend Beth in St Stephens Green and would we be available to photograph it, and of course our answer was YES!
After many emails, a secret meeting and code emojis agreed upon for communicating the plans were in motion.
Beth had no idea what was coming, as far as she was concerned they were off for a night out in Dublin to see Ben Howard.
Rebecca had made a scrapbook of little memories too, the decision on how to get it there was a hard one, Rebecca never usually carries a bag and was afraid that the new addition to her ensemble would give the game away!
Once they arrived in Dunlin the hotel room “wasn’t ready” so Rebecca suggested they go for a walk, and just so happened they would end up at St Stephens Green.
Mean while we were waiting at the bandstand in the park – at times panicking as a huge group of French exchange students had taken up residency and if they didn’t shift we’d have to think on our feet. Thankfully they left, and we were ready for the girls and the big moment.
We nonchalantly tried to let on we were just tourists taking pictures of y’know the scenery and trees and stuff.
Rebecca produced the scrap book and after reading the whole way through she dropped to one knee and asked “Will you marry me?” We’re not sure what Beth said exactly as the furious click of our shutters blocked her out, but from the beaming smile, hugs and kisses we knew it was a yes!
We are completely thrilled for these two and we are so honoured that we were the ones that got photograph such an important moment in their lives.
Congratulations Rebecca and Beth!
