We are so proud to share Laura and Jaynes October wedding at Ballygally Castle, County Antrim.
Laura and Jayne are pillars of the LGBT community in this little part of the world so it was an incredible privilege to document their wedding day.
It was a damp grey day over the east coast of Northern Ireland, but it certainly didn’t dampen the energy for the day ahead! The couple made their preparations in tandem, both sharing the 1625 room of Ballygally Castle at different times, making sure to not cross paths until the ceremony. And what a place to choose for their wedding, Ballygally Castle is one of the most beautiful castle hotels in Ireland, it’s right on the edge of the Irish Sea and is well known for being haunted!!
Laura and Jayne had their civil partnership ceremony in the Kintyre Room of Ballygally Castle, with views of the Irish Sea on one side and lush manicured gardens on the other!
The wedding itself was incredibly emotional. During the intimate ceremony not only did Laura and Jayne make a commitment to each other forever but Jayne made a commitment to Lauras daughter, Abbie. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house once Jayne gave Abbie a promise ring – it was the most intensely loving moment we have ever witnessed. It was beautiful.
The reception was held in the Kintyre room so as the room was turned around for the evening festivities the guests enjoyed a magician, acoustic music and lots of tea and scones. This was our chance to nab the newlyweds away for their portraits and have a moment to themselves. We love the girls portraits in the garden, the bright colourful flowers really reflect their bright personalities!
We love photographing weddings at Ballygally Castle because it has such beautiful gardens and the staff are always so helpful.
Laura and Jayne decorated the venue with an abundance of flowers provided by the always amazing Victoriana Floral, had tables names of notable civil rights activists from history, they also gave special shots as favours that everyone had to down to toast the speeches and even had a rainbow wedding cake to finish dinner!
The evening was finished with hilarious speeches and the dancing was kicked off by Laura and Jayne performing a dance routine to a P!NK medley – finished perfectly with “Raise Your Glass!”
In all it was an epic wedding to be a part of and we hope you enjoy the story of their day! Oh and HAPPY PRIDE!!
